Móberg wants to sell Skífuna and the Gamestation.
Skorri Rafn at Móbergi says Skífinn’s retail operations are unsuitable for online companies.
“We are an internet and technology company and plan to focus more on that. Skífan and Gamestöðin do not suit our vision of the future,” says Skorri Rafn Rafnsson, CEO of Móberg. The company owns Skífuna and Gamestation and advertised the sale companies this weekend.
Skífan and Gamestöðin operate two stores, one in Kringlunn and the other in Smáralind.
The owners of Skífunn bought the business in 2010 from Sena and now run it in Móberg. Skorri is the primary owner of Móberg. The second largest is Fjölvar Darri Rafnsson. There are several smaller shareholders.
Skífan is the oldest entertainment company in the country, and Gamestöðin is one of the country’s most popular video game stores. Móberg focuses on other areas, e.g. with Bland.is, which is the most popular marketplace in the country, Netgíró, the software company Expertia and Mói Internet, which owns the websites 433.is, Sport.is, Hún.is, and other websites.
“The future is bright, and many new projects are underway. It is good to sharpen the focus at such a point,” says Skorri Rafn.
