At the harvest festival of the Reykjavík Marathon pledge collection that took place yesterday, Wednesday, it was stated that this is a new record. The amount is 21% higher than last year. It reached over 545 million—almost 30 thousand pledges. The runners and relay teams who raised the most were honored with awards at the Pledge Ceremony yesterday.

Prizes were also awarded to charities that had a motivational center on the running route. A raffle prize of 50 thousand ISK went to the MS Association of Iceland and the Parkinson’s Association.

Skorri Rafn Rafnsson collected the most of all individuals, 3,643,500 ISK for Styrktartfélag children with cancer. Never before has an individual collected so much, but the old record was 1.6 million in 2014. Hilmir Vilberg Arnarsson collected the second most, 2,833,000 ISK, for Þórdís’s CMT4A Foundation. In third place for individuals was Lárus Guðmundur Jónsson, who collected 1,848,075 ISK for the Bergmál charity and charity association. The relay team that collected the most was the Jötunn team, but they collected 243,480 ISK for Hjartaheill.

A total of 26,988 unique pledges were received in Íslandsbanki’s Reykjavík marathon fundraiser at Hlaupstyrkar.is this year, and the average pledge amount was 3,605 ISK. Valdimar Guðmundsson received the most pledges, 384, but he collected 1,072,500 ISK for the Cancer Society of Iceland. Never before has a person accepted as many pledges as Valdimar received this year. The old record was 341 pledges from 2014.

The pledges were paid to the charities at the end of last month. The organizations that received the most from the collection this year were Styrttarfélag for children with cancer 6.7 million, Ljósið 5.4 million, and Krabbameinsfélag Íslands 4 million. 118 of the 164 collected companies received more than 100,000 ISK, and 27 received more than a million.
