Móberg buys WEDO

Móberg ehf has bought the operation of the design company WEDO and integrated it into its own software company, Expertia ehf. Expertia ehf will now advance under the banner of WEDO ehf.

“The merger resulted in stronger positions for the activities we had before, and we are now a comprehensive software company that can handle the largest and most demanding customers who often want to have front-end and back-end development as well as design of the highest quality from the same service provider,” says Jóhann Kristjánsson, managing director of WEDO ehf .” say the announcement.

“The company now employs over 20 people, proliferating. During the merger process, we have strengthened the business’s internal work and quality processes with a sharp focus on providing quality service from concept design to delivery of the finished product. It creates an exciting competitive position for us on the Icelandic software market to have a development department in Zagreb, Croatia, now that work processes have been refined,” the announcement further states.

It also says that in the new year, WEDO will enter the market as a powerful software and design company in the field of information technology, with headquarters in Reykjavík and an office in Croatia. The core business is software development, integration, and development of financial and payment solutions and front-end solutions for companies that want to make the most of information technology and provide services via the web, smartphones, and tablets.

WEDO has recently worked on numerous projects for parties such as Bland.is, Netgíró, Betware, Almenna Lífeyrissjóðinn, Hun.is and Heimkaup.is, to name a few.

WEDO’s managing director is Jóhann Kristjánsson. He has a master’s degree in international business from CBS and extensive managerial experience in the technology and financial sectors both in Iceland and abroad. In recent years, Jóhann has worked in development and IT at Danske Bank in Copenhagen. Jóhann is married to Hilda Inga Björnsdóttir, an artist and designer, and has four children.
